The Master of Human Resources Management Program at Rutgers University

The Master of Human Resource Management (MHRM) program is one of the very top HRM programs in the United States, with graduates employed in major corporate, government, and nonprofit organizations across the country such as: GE, IBM, Johnson & Johnson, and Colgate-Palmolive, among others. With the largest concentration of HR faculty in the United States, the HRM Program at Rutgers is internationally renowned for its research and teaching in the areas of strategic human resource management, global employment strategies, new approaches to worker involvement, and the transformation of work.

Classes are offered late afternoons and evenings Monday through Thursday as well as all day on Saturdays for a half semester for the convenience of working students. Enrollment can be part-time or full-time, and classes are also offered in the summer. Each year, representatives from numerous Fortune 100 and 500 companies travel to the MHRM site to interview students for HR positions and internships. MHRM graduates often begin their HR careers with these rotational, high-visibility, fast-track, developmental positions, which lead to managerial positions in the future.

The student body is comprised of individuals from throughout the United States and the world and represents a variety of undergraduate majors and work experiences. MHRM degree students learn how organizations:

  • Design HRM systems to build a competent, committed workforce, and flexible, integrated, cost effective organization
  • Assess the effects of HRM policies and systems on organizational performance
  • Apply financial analysis, research methods, and software to the HRM decision process
  • Combine work design, measurement, staffing, development, rewards, and governance systems into an integrated HRM system strategically linked to the business plan
